Air Temperature Freezing Degree-days Annual Mean (2002-2021)
Description
This is a map of accumulated freezing potential (freezing degree days, FDD) for the Upper Gunnison domain, derived from daily minimum temperature maps interpolated from weather station and microclimate sensor data. The original daily maps are also available.

Freezing degree-days were accumulated from day-of-year 60 to day-of-year 305 (March 1st to November 1st in a non-leap year). To compute freezing degree days, temperatures below -5 degrees Celcius (considered harmful to most plants) were summed across all days and multiplied by negative 1.

This map represents the mean of annual values computed from 2002 to 2021.

In addition to the download links on this page, you can access this dataset and metadata using the rSDP R Package:

#devtools::install_github('rmbl-sdp/rSDP')
library(rSDP)
dataset <- sdp_get_raster('R4D023')
metadata <- sdp_get_metadata('R4D023')

For more information about rSDP, visit the package homepage.
