Annual floodplain sediment deposition recorded using feldspar clay marker horizons along the East River, Colorado, 2015-2017.
Description
White feldspar clay was placed along 24 transects defining a ~9-km long study reach along the meandering snowmelt-dominated East River in Colorado, USA. Feldspar markers horizons were placed in the fall of 2015 and 2016 along transects with the space between them increasing with distance from the channel. Depths of floodplain deposition were measured the following summers of 2016 and 2017 following annual peak flow after peak snowmelt. This dataset includes individual and average measurements made in the field along with coordinates in NAD 83 UTM Zone 13.
